Louis Vuitton’s Fall-Winter 2025 show was nothing short of a grand spectacle, drawing a star-studded audience to an unexpected location near the Gare du Nord train station in Paris. The prestigious fashion house, known for its rich heritage in luxury travel, unveiled a collection that redefined travel essentials with its signature sophistication.

From LV-branded luggage to statement-making accessories, the runway was a testament to the house’s spirit of adventure. Models strutted down the catwalk carrying bags shaped like musical instruments, while donning thick-soled trainers perfect for urban exploration. Hats, capes, and trench coats, designed to brave the elements, added a practical yet chic touch to the collection.

Nicolas Ghesquière, the brand’s visionary Franco-Belgian creative director, took inspiration from the lively atmosphere of a Parisian train station. “It’s about fleeting encounters, whispered stories, and the transient beauty of travel,” the brand shared on Instagram, encapsulating the magic of the moment. The show transported guests to a waiting hall in a bustling railway station, with an air of secrecy surrounding the location until the last moment to prevent crowds of eager fans from gathering outside.

A-listers graced the front row, adding to the allure of the event. Hollywood icons Jennifer Connelly, Ana de Armas, Léa Seydoux, and Emma Stone were among the elite attendees, alongside French First Lady Brigitte Macron. The presence of such luminaries underscored the brand’s enduring appeal and cultural significance.

What set Louis Vuitton’s collection apart this season was its structured silhouettes and impeccable tailoring. While other brands leaned toward oversized and deconstructed styles, Ghesquière opted for sleeker, more refined fits. Classic trench coats and leather jackets took center stage, complemented by an eclectic mix of bold patterns and vibrant hues. A striking red-and-white checkerboard print turned heads, while Ziggy Stardust-inspired jumpsuits paid homage to the electrifying spirit of the 1970s.

Louis Vuitton’s journey from a humble trunk maker to a global luxury empire was evident in every detail. As the crown jewel of LVMH’s vast portfolio, the brand continues to push the boundaries of fashion while staying true to its roots.

The Reign of Fur and Leather: Paris Fashion Week Highlights

As Paris Womenswear Fashion Week nears its grand finale, anticipation builds for the upcoming showcases by Chanel and Saint Laurent. Over the past nine days, designers have battled for the spotlight, unveiling collections that aim to captivate audiences and reignite sales in an increasingly challenging luxury market.

A few standout trends have dominated the runways this season, with fur and leather reigning supreme. Oversized shoulder pads, a nod to 1980s power dressing, made a bold comeback, while splashes of vibrant yellow injected energy into various collections. Faux fur, which has steadily gained traction in recent years, was everywhere—from plush stoles and extravagant coats to delicate trims on jackets and accessories.

Uruguayan designer Gabriela Hearst took sustainability to the next level by incorporating upcycled materials into her creations. Her show, held on Monday, featured a stunning coat crafted from “repurposed vintage mink,” proving that luxury and eco-consciousness can go hand in hand.

Meanwhile, Spanish powerhouse Loewe made waves with a dual men’s and women’s collection that exuded an air of transition and homage. The brand’s esteemed creative director, Jonathan Anderson, who has played a pivotal role in its meteoric rise, may soon be moving on to new ventures within LVMH, according to industry insiders. His latest presentation served as a heartfelt tribute to modern art pioneers Josef and Anni Albers. Standout pieces included oversized multicolored wool coats intricately woven in a patchwork style, an ode to Anni Albers’ lifelong dedication to textile artistry.

Adding to the week’s theatrical flair, rising French designer Marine Serre delivered a collection that felt like a cinematic masterpiece inspired by David Lynch’s enigmatic world. A black leather dress with futuristic shoulders, a sleeveless fur coat cinched at the waist, and a striking black leather corset layered over a sheer red lace bodysuit were just a few of the dramatic looks that left audiences spellbound.

The Future of Fashion: Tradition Meets Innovation

As the curtains close on Paris Fashion Week, one thing is certain: luxury fashion is evolving at an unprecedented pace. Designers are embracing both nostalgia and innovation, blending classic craftsmanship with forward-thinking creativity. From Louis Vuitton’s reimagining of travel essentials to the daring experimentation seen across various collections, the industry continues to captivate, surprise, and inspire.

Whether it’s through sustainable practices, boundary-pushing silhouettes, or imaginative storytelling, these collections are more than just clothes—they are a reflection of our times. And as fashion enthusiasts look ahead to the next season, one can only wonder: what new stories will the runway tell next?

Ten years earlier, Mehta was a different person entirely. During a study abroad stint, she found herself in Chile in 2014, working alongside the Ministry of Justice to compile the country’s report to the United Nations Committee Against Torture and work on domestic legislation efforts for survivors. The work was meticulous, bureaucratic, and critically important—helping to redefine torture to include sexual violence under Chilean law.
