Luxury footwear icon Manolo Blahnik has unveiled an exciting new scholarship initiative at the London College of Fashion (LCF), part of the University of the Arts London (UAL). This initiative is a cornerstone of the brand’s long-term philanthropic commitment through the Manolo Blahnik Foundation.
The prestigious Manolo Blahnik Scholarship is designed to support both UK and international students enrolled in LCF’s School of Design and Technology. It provides an annual financial contribution covering tuition, living expenses, and course costs throughout a three-year program, helping to nurture the next generation of design talent.
The first-ever recipient, a promising first-year student from the BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear course, has already been selected. However, future scholarships will be expanded to include students across more courses, with applicants able to apply before securing their place at LCF.
Claudine Rousseau, dean of LCF’s School of Design and Technology, expressed deep appreciation for the initiative, stating: “This scholarship presents an extraordinary opportunity for gifted students who might otherwise face financial obstacles in realizing their creative aspirations. It also plays a crucial role in promoting diversity, ensuring a rich mix of perspectives continues to shape the future of heritage crafts.”
Kristina Blahnik, CEO of the brand and trustee of the foundation, echoed these sentiments: “UAL is one of the world’s leading creative institutions, and being able to break down financial barriers for both UK and international students is an immensely proud moment for the Manolo Blahnik Foundation. Supporting emerging creatives has always been a dream, and to do so within UAL’s exceptional framework is truly fulfilling.”
This scholarship marks a meaningful step in Manolo Blahnik’s mission to empower the next wave of fashion innovators, ensuring talent and passion—not financial constraints—define the future of design.
